OSI Aikido (Blindern Aikido Club)

OSI Aikido is the oldest Aikido club in Oslo, located in the new and modern Domus Athletica building at the University of Oslo (see the following map) in room UA. The dojo has a strong and diverse group of instructors, some with decades of experience. Our dojo also prides itself in maintaining a friendly social environment outside Aikido classes - weekly visits to the pub after Friday's evening class being one example.

We direct our primary recruiting efforts towards students in Oslo.

If you are interested in Aikido, or are considering trying it out, feel free to drop by. Classes are open to spectators and the instructors are happy to answer questions after the class. We train just about every day, so you can choose when you want to come depending on your level of skills.

There is training for people who are advanced (øvet), new beginners (nybegynnere) and open training (åpen for alle). Have a look at the training times for the club because we make some changes each semester as well as during the summer break. Usually we train for one and a half hours.

If you want to come train with us, club membership is currently 375 kroner per semester. In addition you need a semester pass to the Domus Athletica building; check the pricing at SIO. It costs 60 kroner for students and 100 kroner for non-students for a single visit, so a semester pass is highly recommended. You can pay using cash or a bank card at the entrance to Domus Athletica. Once inside you can enjoy all of the other facilities, like a newly refurbished gym, an Olympic-size swimming pool, and saunas.

We normally start beginner's courses for new members at the start of each semester, usually the last week of August and January, respectively.

Our club started originally as a student dojo and has over the last 20-odd years evolved into a club with both current and former students as well as non-university members. There is an even mix of women and men training in a friendly atmosphere. The club also has different social activities outside of the dojo, like trips to local mountain cabins, film nights and pub nights.

OSI Aikido is associated with the Norwegian Aikido Federation, and considers itself a mainstream Aikikai-style dojo.

Because the Domus Athletica building is part of the student sports organization, you have to be 18 years of age to train with us.

If you wish to contact us, please do so by email, snail mail or directly through one of our instructors.

The address is Trimveien 4, which is about a 10 minute walk from Blindern and not too far from the Ullevaal Sports stadium. You can also take the local tube or tram to the “Forskningsparken” station and walk about 300 meters to the building. The telephone number at Domus Athletica is 22596950. If you are still not sure how to get there you can contact one of our instructors.
